Day 01: BALIKPAPAN, SAMARINDA, MAHAKAM RIVER (LD)
Upon arrival at Balikpapan airport, meeting service and transfer to Loa Janan, to board houseboat for exciting adventure on Mahakam river. Meals provided and overnight on houseboat.
Day 02: MUARA MUNTAI, JEMPANG LAKE, TANJUNG ISUY (BLD)
Short sight seeing at Muara Muntai Wooden village, then crossing Jempang Lake by motor canoe to Mancong. During the cruise you could see Rain forest, many types of water and lake birds, and wildlife at Ohong creek like monkey’s and lowland forest birds, Late afternoon by motor canoe to Tanjung Isuy for sightseeing and overnight at Longhouse Tanjung Isuy.
Day 03: TANJUNG ISUY, MUARA PAHU, DOLPHIN & BOLOWAN RIVER, UPSTREAM MAHAKAM RIVER(BLD)
Simple Breakfast, and continue by motor-canoe cross the Jempang lake to the Houseboat for upstream Mahakam river for about 6 hours, Arrive at Muara Pahu, cruise up Bolowan river by canoe, along the river bank, we could see many kinds of birds while we will pass the proboscis Monkeys Island, and spot the rare red endangered longnose monkeys closely, before we move into the black water peat swamp forest land, with opportunities to spot the fresh water dolphins around and move into the Bolowan River. Late Afternoon, we continue upstream to Melak by houseboat.
Day 04: MELAK, EHENG, OMBAU ASA, TERING (BLD)
Arrive in Melak then drive to Eheng by Jeep / Minibus passing beautiful highland area of Jungle and rubber plantations to explore the forest, with many birds, and if lucky the famous black orchid can be seen, late afternoon return to houseboat and continue upstream Mahakam River ( if water level allows ).
Day 05: TERING, DATA BILANG (BLD)
Breakfast, Cruising the mighty Mahakam River which becomes narrow the more we cruise into the head waters to Data Bilangi village as a Dayak Kenyah and Kayan tribal’s Settlement with longhouse, art full statutes, and totems, and traditional culture, tattoos, and long ears, surrounded by primary tropical forest with different bird types. Lunch, dinner at local restaurant, and overnight at guesthouse at Data Bilang.
Day 06: DATA BILANG, DOWNSTREAM (BLD)
After breakfast at guesthouse, short sightseeing at Data Bilang village and surround, before we start our journey by cruising downstream Mahakam River to Tenggarong. Meals provide enroute and overnight on boat.
Day 07: TENGGARONG, SANGATTA, KUTAI NATIONAL PARK (BLD)
Early in the morning downstream by houseboat to Tenggarong. Arrive at Tenggarong, possibility to visit the former palace of Sultan Kutai Kartanegara. Where you will see the Sultan’s impressive collection of heirlooms, ceramics, Dayak’s art and culture items. Afterwards by car to Sangatta village, cruising up Sangatta River by motor canoe into the jungle of Kutai National Park. Upon Arrival at Prefab Orangutan Research station, we will drop our stuff and direct start a jungle trek into the forest, looking for birds and other wildlife as Orangutans, which are completely wild. Lunch on the way, Dinner and overnight at Prefab Research station, hearing the sounds of the forest by night
Day 08: KUTAI NATIONAL PARK (BLD)
Early in the morning by motor canoe upstream Sangatta River further into the jungle of Kutai National Park Reserve, looking for birds of the Jungle. Afternoon return to Prefab Station for Lunch and rest, late afternoon another forest trek searching for wild and experience the beauty of the Rainforest flora and Fauna here. Dinner and overnight at Prefab Research station.
Day 09: KUTAI RESERVE, DELTA SANGATTA RIVER (BLD)
After Breakfast by motor canoe to the mangrove forest at the Delta of the Sangatta River to spot Longnose Monkeys, Birds, Crocodiles and other wild in the Mangrove Forest. Return to Sangatta for lunch and afterwards transfer to Samarinda for overnight at Hotel.
Day 10: SAMARINDA, BALIKPAPAN (B)
Breakfast, free at leisure, and enjoy the hotel atmosphere, until departure transfer to Balikpapan airport for your flight to your next destination.
